Using our “Checkpoint 30 List” will give you a chance to see how your website rates for usability related to layout, typography, content, color, functionality, ease of use and trustworthiness.

Checkpoint 30 Website Usability List

  1. Speedy site load-time
  2. Adequate white space (no clutter)
  3. Font size/spacing is easy to read
  4. Contrast between text colour and background is reader friendly
  5. Plugins & Add-ons are used sparingly
  6. Images have appropriate ALT tags
  7. Images are websize for faster site loading
  8. Company logo is prominently placed
  9. Tagline makes company’s purpose clear
  10. Home page is digestible quickly
  11. Navigation labels are clear, concise and where people expect them to be
  12. Clear path to company & contact information
  13. Cross Browser Compatible
  14. STRONG calls to action
  15. One click links that are consistent and direct
  16. Secure from viruses and malware
  17. Major headings are clear and descriptive
  18. Critical content is above the “fold”
  19. Styles and colours are consistent with brand
  20. Emphasis (bold, italics etc.) is used sparingly
  21. Content is naturally flowing, concise and explanatory
  22. Mobile device friendly / Responsive design
  23. URLs are meaningful & user-friendly
  24. HTML page titles are explanatory
  25. Regularly maintained for optimal, secure usability
  26. All content is typo-free
  27. If you must have Ads – keep them subtle
  28. Concise vertically oriented forms
  29. Reasonable number of form fields (keep it simple – name & email)
  30. Quality design
  31. Appropriate and reliable hosting (Bonus!)
